Bonjour!

Je suis Yzabel. J’aime mange du poisson avec du sel!

(rough translation: Hello! My name is Yzabel. I like to eat fish with salt.)

Hey, hi, hello!

I haven’t been posting for a while because I’ve been quite busy-

. . .

Took you a lot of your imagination right? To be honest I almost burst into laughter writing that sentence.

No, I’m not busy but my surroundings are. With the general elections coming around, the candidates’ desperate attempts to garner votes during the last presidential debate, the pressure my brother radiates as he tries to finish his Iron Man glove, and the fact that I get to watch Civil War in two more days, you can imagine how I’m able to compose a post.

So, as I repeat again, no I’m not busy. I have been starting on my summer job though, which is to computerize my dad’s work notes, (two notebooks long plus sketches) ! I’m not complaining though, since this job is quite surreal because I get to pick how much I get paid, and no deadline is set. Oh boy, am I lucky.

Now to the point of this post.

If you don’t know, I have been trying to learn French since 2014, and I am proud to say that I am able to construct sentences where in food is involved. As duolingo has said, always put ‘du’ before any food-related word. So you might say “du macaroon”, “du vin”, or even “du pain” which translates to bread, not the literal, ‘throw you off a cliff’ pain.

Anyway, I was recently introduced to a clip from The Voice: La plus belle voix, where a girl plays a violin and sings Coldplay’s “The Scientist”. I was amazed, needless to say, since I’ve been looking for french artists whose music I actually like, and now I found not one but two! Because- hear me out- one of the judges hugged her, and from my research his name is Mika, and I’ve decided to search him on YouTube, listened to his songs, and then i get to say hello to french music hell.

Christ he looks good doesn't he? His music is even better!
Mika the Singer

So yeah, here he is. Doesn’t exactly help that he looks like that. And a big hooray that I get to listen to good French music that isn’t anyway related to Ratatouille.

Okay, I think I’ve talked- no typed enough. It’s taken me three hours to write this thing because I keep on getting distracted. Now I’m watching Ewan McGregor singing ‘Be My Guest’ in a not-so Mexican accent, and Jack Whitehall telling a story about his role in Frozen, in which it was reduced to non-speaking one. In an animation movie. Poor Jack.

That’s all for now!

Bonsoir et bonne nuit!
